Switching recessed lights to LED

Our house has many recessed lights and when we bought it they were all incandescent flood lights. At one point we switched to compact florescent flood lights because those were the energy efficient way to go at the time… however those lights were awful. They took awhile to get to full brightness and also ran very hot. I tried switching some lights to LED and then I found these great inserts.

For $60 I could buy 12 of these and they replace the trim around the existing lights with a wire and screw in adapter to connect to the old socket. This solved two problems at once:

  • it converted our light to LED
  • it replaced the faded/discolored trim around the old recessed lights

I also like the look since they are completely sealed.
